Pop up dinners are all the rage. They give chefs the opportunity to interact with their most loyal followers in intimate, unique settings, while providing an element of exclusivity and adventure reserved for those "in the know."
Our BauscherHepp showroom was honored to host one of these recent pop-up dinners. Developed by Snap Pea Underground, one of Raleigh's premier chefs and caterers, 192 guests visited our showroom over the course of three nights.
Each dinner consisted of 11 courses that were plated on a variety of BauscherHepp porcelain, as well as stoneware from Playground. Attendees also enjoyed cocktails in Bach glassware and sipped wine from stemmed Grangusto glasses from Luigi Bormioli.
The Snap Pea Underground events have become quite common in the Durham-Raleigh-Chapel Hill area. They have hosted numerous events in locations ranging from planetariums to a bridge top. Tickets typically sell out within four or five minutes.
Snap Pea Underground and Catering is owned by chef Jacob Boehm. Boehm is a graduate of Stanford University but is a native North Carolinian. When he moved back to the area, the self-taught chef decided to enter the pop-up foray.
"You can take a look at menus of past events on our website, but you have no idea what it's going to be." he said in an ABC News article earlier this year. "That's really important because it opens people's eyes up to foods they might have thought they didn't like or had never heard of. But here, they're being put down in front of them and they're giving it a try."
And in the BauscherHepp showroom, those diners were also experiencing new presentation possibilities. But don't take our word for it. Stop by, and see for yourself.
